Message from the presidentCUWLC is one of the most successful, respected, and long-standing female sports clubs at the University of Cambridge, celebrating its 109th Varsity match against Oxford University this year. CUWLC is renowned for its skill, hard work, and impressive performances at regional and national level. The Club consists of two teams: the Blues and the Kingfishers, both of which compete in the highest BUCS leagues – Premier South 1 & 2, with the Blues regularly reaching the BUCS quarterfinals. Our aims for this season include winning Varsity against Oxford for both teams, and reaching at least the semi-finals of the Premier South 1 league for the Blues.
We train 3-4 times a week, with sessions led by our co-captains, Carys Ward and Tabby Black, and our coach Hollie Harrington, as well as support from the University Sports Centre. We aim to continue our newly established Development Squad, which is catered towards introducing lacrosse to those who have never played before and giving them the opportunity to eventually join the main training squad. We pride ourselves on a warm, friendly and encouraging atmosphere, and many of our players forge lifelong friendships on and off the pitch. If you have any questions or are keen to get involved with the club in any way, please get in touch with me via email ([email protected]). - Erica Shuker, Club President (2024-25) |
